Frequently asked questions

Do you work on site or remotely?

Both. I work out of Vienna; on-site projects elsewhere in Europe are possible, and remote work anywhere in the world. Whatever has to happen on site (cabling, server racks, hardware), I do on site; everything else can be handled remotely. My own hosting and monitoring environment has been set up in this distributed way for years. On-site visits in Vienna and the surrounding area carry no call-out fee; beyond that, travel time is billed as time spent.

What does it cost?

I bill for the time and effort involved. I give you a rough figure in the initial consultation and a binding price after the analysis. Specific rates are discussed in person rather than listed here.

How soon can you start?

When work can start depends on the scope. Urgent cases are not the exception for me: projects under heavy time pressure are one of my core areas.

What about confidentiality?

A large part of my projects is bound by confidentiality. You will find no project list and no references here; I want to present what I can do. The knowledge listed here, combined with customer names, would become an attack vector. You will find no customer names here, only industries and tasks. My focus in data protection is healthcare, but also ministries, larger corporations and their suppliers, whose requirements I do not breach.

We already have an IT department. Can you work alongside it?

Yes. Whether I accompany the whole project, take on the concept, or handle the documentation and staff training, I bring solid expertise in every area.

Do you take on small projects too?

Yes. There’s no minimum project size, and individuals are welcome too if the task is a good fit. My clients range from nonprofits and medical practices to industrial companies with multiple sites.

Can you run a seminar just for our organization?

Yes. In-house training is available on request, topics can be combined, and schedule and content can be adapted. Topics outside the list: requests for unusual areas are not rare.

Which programming languages do you work with?

Python · PHP (including Slim) · TypeScript and JavaScript (AngularJS, Vue 2/3) · C# · .NET · Visual Basic · Java · Ruby · Google Apps Script · PowerShell · Bash · Django · Frappe · Flask. Today: FastAPI or Django with Vue 3 and Frappe with Vue 3, in TypeScript.

Which cloud environments can you look after?

Google Workspace · Microsoft 365 · Azure (AD, VMs, other services) · Active Directory, on-premises and hybrid · VMware ESXi/vCenter · Proxmox · Hyper-V · Docker · Amazon Web Services · Exchange · backup with Veeam. An Entra ID-first setup with local AD is possible.

Which databases do you use for projects?

MS SQL · MySQL · MariaDB · DB2 (migrations) · migrating neglected databases of any origin. Oracle only as a migration source.
